Maggie Bride: Laurie’s Stunning Blush Wedding Dress

Tips and Trends | August 4, 2014

Maggie Bride Laurie first caught glimpse of our lovely Divina gown when a friend of hers showed her the Maggie Sottero Designs website. The unique, pale blush wedding dress  immediately caught her attention. “I had never considered a pink wedding dress, but I was surprised at how beautiful it was,” Laurie said. “It seemed to suit my personality a little better than traditional white.”  We think Laurie makes an absolutely stunning bride, and her Chicago wedding is equally as gorgeous. See more of her wedding below, and see how more Maggie Brides have styled this versatile blush wedding dress in our feature, “One Dress, Three Ways“.

Favorite part of the dress: “The fact that it is offered in blush. This dress was just made to be worn in pink, in my opinion. I also loved the beaded belt, and the overall cut and fit of the dress.”

Favorite wedding day moment: “Oh, there are just so many, but that initial few moments after the ceremony was just perfect. Mike and I walked outside with our bridal party, crossed Michigan Avenue and then had a few moments to just kind of talk and laugh about what we had just done as they set up and organized pictures. Yes, the photographer was snapping pictures, but it was right before we were posing for pictures and it was so perfect. It was so quick, but so important to me to have him to myself. And those turned out to be the best pictures of the whole night.”

Advice for future brides: “Relax and have fun. Don’t stress out about anything beyond your control. Enjoy your day and the people with you. Also, take a good break before the ceremony and everything starts. Our amazing photographer kept us AHEAD of schedule, and I had some time to sit and relax with my bridesmaids and just enjoy being with them and it made a world of difference.”

How did you and your now husband meet? “It is kind of funny, but we don’t really remember. We kind of met through some mutual friends going on 8 years ago, and we’ve been together ever since.”

Describe your wedding in one word. “Happy. I was so very happy all day long to be with all our friends and family and my husband. I have so many happy memories of that day.”

Did anything unexpected happen on your big day? “Not really. My husband surprised me with a beautiful pink bracelet to match the dress. He didn’t know the dress would be pink, I kept that a secret. So it was an even bigger surprise that he got a bracelet that matched.”
