From planting wildlife corridors in Costa Rica to restoring Koala habitat in Australia, we are supporting reforestation, wildlife survival and recovery of endangered tree and plant species. These tree plantings are a heartfelt gesture to our Maggie brides, and an impactful biodiversity protection effort. Together, we’re helping grow the equivalent of a forest on a global scale*.

Waste Reduction
Maggie Sottero is recycling everything possible, as efficiently as we can, from bulk shipping waste to diverting dead stock from landfills.
- 8,600 lbs+ of plastic shipping waste recycled through our partnership with Rocky Mountain Recycling
- 100% of excess stock gowns diverted from landfills and into textile recycling programs and donation efforts.

Resource Consumption
Maggie Sottero is supporting renewable power projects, sourcing lower-impact materials for our gowns and investing in the circular supply chain. We are working to become a more regenerative brand.
- Blue Sky Visionary Business Partner with Rocky Mountain Power reducing our annual carbon footprint by an estimated 105,289 lbs of CO2 in 2024.
- Increasing our use of lower-impact materials, with 105+ lower-impact gowns now available in our collections as of Spring 2026.
- We are investing in textile recycling with partners like SuperCircle and the Avena Group , sending excess gown stock to be recycled into new fibers or products.
Protecting Biodiversity
Maggie Sottero is supporting efforts to back healthy ecosystems globally and near our Scope 1 facilities, from our partnership with One Tree Planted to our volunteer work with regional conservation groups like International Bird Rescue.
- In partnership with One Tree Planted, per-gown donations are directed to regional planting projects around the world. These projects are designed to protect biodiversity with reforestation efforts, including wildlife conservation via habitat preservation and elevational corridors to help species adapt to future climates.
- Collaborating with International Bird Rescue, Friends of Great Salt Lake and Tracy Aviary on wildlife habitat conservation in our home state of Utah; and in the U.K., we’re doing ongoing biodiversity support projects at Eastham Country Park.

What are Lower-Impact Wedding Dresses?
Maggie Sottero's lower-impact wedding dresses are a beautiful choice for brides who want to tie the knot in style while reducing their environmental footprint. Maggie Sottero currently features 200+ lower-impact gowns in our collections, made with recycled-content fabrics and energy/water saving yarn-dyed materials. We continue to innovate our designs, testing new materials and processes---like waterless dyeing---to further reduce our product impact and help lead the way to a more sustainable bridal fashion industry.
We’re also investing in the circular supply chain, partnering with SuperCircle and the Avena Group to send our excess gown stock to be recycled into new fibers or products.
Who has Maggie Sottero partnered with in their path toward a more sustainable future?
We are excited to be partnering with, but not limited to, the following organizations. Together, we are working towards a more sustainable future:
- One Tree Planted: In honor of every Maggie Sottero bride and every sample purchased we will plant a tree with One Tree Planted to support biodiversity protection. Let's celebrate a more sustainable wedding space with LOVE and love for ALL—including Mother Earth!
- Tracy Aviary (U.S.) and Eastham Country Park/Wirral Council (U.K.): We're working with these regional conservation groups to protect habitat near our offices, completing eight in-the-field projects so far
- International Bird Rescue and Friends of the Great Salt Lake: In 2023, Maggie Sottero’s U.S. team was proud to serve as pilot corporate partner for Bird Rescue’s Conservation Action Program. Our volunteers successfully cleaned up over 240 pounds of litter to protect the biodiversity of the Great Salt Lake.
- CIRENAS Turtle Refuge: While on photoshoot in Costa Rica, we partnered with CIRENAS to plant White Almond Trees to help regenerate biological corridors and beach ecosystems.
- Rocky Mountain Recycling: We've diverted 8,600+ Ibs. of plastic shipping waste from the landfill through this ongoing partnership.
- Brides Across America and The Brides Project Canada: We’ve donated 1,200+ discontinued gowns and accessories to these charitable organizations, providing free dresses to qualified military, first responder and healthcare workers and raising funds for cancer research.
- Otis College of Art and Design, Los Angeles and Rare School of Fashion and Art, Liverpool: To mentor and support the designers of tomorrow, we've donated 300+ gowns to design students to reduce textile waste and experiment with upcycling design practices.

What are some sustainable options for my wedding dress after I get married?
We encourage our brides to extend the life of their gown. To keep your gown for generations to come, consider a green wedding gown preservation service. Read our blog to get more information on how you can make your dream gown an heirloom piece. Or why not wear it again? Many of our gowns can be shortened and transformed into the anniversary dress of your dreams to wear after your big day! If you'd rather donate it, we encourage you to talk to the Authorized Retailer you purchased your gown from to get a list of charities in your area.
What does Maggie Sottero do with excess inventory?
While landfill/incineration of excess stock is a common practice in the apparel industry for compliance with various Duty & Customs requirements, Maggie Sottero no longer landfills or incinerates any of our inventory. Instead, 100% of excess stock is diverted from landfills and into textile recycling programs and donation efforts. We donate gowns to charitable organizations, provide gowns to fashion students for study and upcycling projects, and we’ve invested in the textile recycling industry, partnering with SuperCircle and Avena Group to support the growth of the circular textile supply chain.
Where do we manufacture our gowns?
For over 25 years we’ve worked with some of the most respected bridal gown manufacturers in the Asia region. When it comes to sourcing fabrics, we are mindful of the shipping impact of bulk materials, so we work with established mills in Taiwan and China in the same geographic regions as our manufacturing partners. We also search for innovative, next-generation materials from the U.S., Japan, South Korea, and Europe.
