My husband, Tanner, and I started dating our senior year in high school in 2006. We were best friends when I kissed him on a dare, and it was love ever since. A year and a half into our relationship, I was a sophomore in college and Tanner got accepted into an art school in Detroit, MI (a dream of his that I could never take away). So while I continued school in WI and he started his journey in MI, we made our long-distance relationship work. Although hard, it was the best thing to ever happen to us. The summer after I graduated college in 2010 (after 4.5 years together), Tanner took me to our favorite spot in Door County, WI, he put a ring on my finger and asked me to "love him forever," under a blanket of stars on the beach. Of course I said yes! So after 6 years of dating--4.5 years of long-distance (4 years of him in Detroit and half a year of him in Rhode Island for an internship)--we finally got to recite our vows to each other and start our happily ever after, with all of our family and friends surrounding us in our hometown in WI! We've been married about 8 months now, and we are expecting our first baby in August!
